Summer Dance 2026: Registration Opens Feb 16!

Epic Fantasy Dance Theater Camps: Summer 2026

For Dancers Who Have Completed 1st-5th Grade Monday – Friday, 9am-12pm

Final Performance Friday at 12pm

Week 1: The Forest of Fables (June 8-12)

Step into a world where ancient legends come to life beneath the canopy. From the steady rhythm of the Tortoise to the lightning-fast leaps of the Hare, dancers will explore character-driven movement inspired by Aesop’s most famous tales. Throughout the week, dancers will take classes in Ballet, Modern, Acro, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theater Jazz, and Hip Hop to build a short performance to share with parents on Friday at 12pm. Join us for the whole summer or just one week and watch the growth happen!

Week 2: Underwater Epics (June 15-19)

Dive deep into a rhythmic ocean adventure! This week, we trade our feet for fins and our breath for bubbles as we explore the fluid dynamics of the sea. Whether we are gliding like jellyfish or grooving like a coral reef, dancers will take classes in Ballet, Modern, Acro, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theater Jazz, and Hip Hop to build a short performance to share with parents on Friday at 12pm. Join us for the whole summer or just one week and watch the growth happen!

Week 3: Galactic Grooves (June 22-26)

Blast off into a cosmic dance chapter where gravity is just a suggestion! From the sharp, robotic precision of space travelers to the weightless suspension of the stars, our dancers will explore the “final frontier.” Throughout the week, dancers will take classes in Ballet, Modern, Acro, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theater Jazz, and Hip Hop to build a short performance to share with parents on Friday at 12pm. Join us for the whole summer or just one week and watch the growth happen!

Week 4: The Hero’s Quest (June 29-July 3)

Every great story needs a hero! This week is all about bravery, strength, and the journey of a lifetime. Dancers will find their “power pose” and channel their inner warrior through athletic choreography and dramatic storytelling. Dancers will take classes in Ballet, Modern, Acro, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theater Jazz, and Hip Hop to build a short performance to share with parents on Friday at 12pm. Join us for the whole summer or just one week and watch the growth happen!

Week 5: The Island of Lost Shadows (July 6-10)

Explore the mystery of the “unseen” in this atmospheric and imaginative week. We will play with lighting, negative space, and the relationship between a dancer and their shadow, creating a visual masterpiece on stage. Dancers will take classes in Ballet, Modern, Acro, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theater Jazz, and Hip Hop to build a short performance to share with parents on Friday at 12pm. Join us for the whole summer or just one week and watch the growth happen!

Week 6: The City in the Clouds (July 13-17)

Our summer finale takes us to a whimsical metropolis floating in the sky! This week focuses on “high-flying” energy—think grand allegro, soaring leaps, and airy contemporary movement. Dancers will take classes in Ballet, Modern, Acro, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theater Jazz, and Hip Hop to build a short performance to share with parents on Friday at 12pm. Join us for the whole summer or just one week and watch the growth happen!

2026 Summer Pre-Pro Dance Intensive

Presented by Hunter Dance Center  in Collaboration with Open Dance Project

June 22 – July 31, 2026

Building on the success of our previous Summer Dance Theater Intensives, Hunter Dance Center and Open Dance Project are proud to announce the expansion of our summer programming into a comprehensive, six-week Pre-Professional Intensive.

This expanded format allows us to deepen our commitment to the contemporary dancer’s pre-professional journey. While we continue our tradition of merging dance and theater, this 6-week experience is designed to bridge the gap between studio training and professional proficiency, offering an unprecedented level of technical focus and creative exploration that challenges  and expands the athleticism, creativity, and versatility of the pre-professional student. Taught by professional dancers from Open Dance Project, this intensive also serves as an excellent way to build community and professional contacts with nationally recognized dancers, teachers, and choreographers.

Weekly Master Schedule

The intensive provides elite-level training beneficial at any duration. Both levels receive a daily foundation of technical excellence followed by specialized afternoon tracks. Students must submit a video placement audition to be placed in the appropriately leveled track here: Video Placement Audition. Please note that ODP2 and current HDC dancers do not have to submit a placement video.
